John Targett, owner of TargettMotorSport, has a long history in the English racecar arena. He started racing an MGB in England in 1970, in MG Car Club events and production sports car championships. He moved to the US in 1976 and worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He started racing again in 1994 Vintage Racing with a well known club (Full Race MGB 1963 6594AP). He had several class wins. Unfortunately, this car was seriously damaged by a co-driver during an endurance event at Watkins Glen. John lucked into faithful recreation of the early competitions department MGBs. Abingdon (home of MG). John bought his first MGB (1966 MGB Roadster) in 1968, replaced it in 1971 with a 1969 Roadster and continued racing with this car (AMF45H License Plate). John currently owns 2 racecars, 70 GT, Factory GTV8, (5 cars) also AMF45H.
John has operated TargettMotorSport since 2004 (we are celebrating our 5th anniversary in 2009). He was encouraged to get into business by the poor quality of injection molded plastic suspension bushes he bought. He has connections to sources in England. His goal is to get parts of a quality that he would be comfortable fitting on his own car (street or full race) at a sensible cost. He personally goes to England 3-4 times each year. He understands there are things you can’t wait for, so he also stocks a large selection of MG parts. He can find unusual, hard to find parts. But quality is always first.
